Punxsutawney Phil might have predicted six more weeks of winter, but I know that spring is quickly approaching. As hectic as the beginning of the school year is, spring semester is that much more! Check out what on-campus events our team is preparing for this March and April:

Titled Early Childhood Education: The Promise and the Prognosis Dr. Sharon Lynn Kagan will speak on the topic of early childhood education and the need for quality, action and investment.

  • April 22nd: Signature Forum with Diane Ravitch

Educator and author, Diane Ravitch, will discuss her new book Reign of Error. An incisive, comprehensive look at today’s American school system that argues against those who claim it is broken and beyond repair; an impassioned but reasoned call to stop the privatization movement that is draining students and funding from our public schools.

I encourage you to consider attending 1 (or all) of these dynamic events. Most are free to attend and all of them are open to anyone and everyone.

What are you doing on April 23rd?  If you haven’t already signed up for the Towson University Showcase, then get to it!  In its 6th year, the Showcase is an annual event focused on better connecting businesses, organizations, non-profit groups, government agencies, and community members with the people, projects, and programs at Towson University. This year we’re focusing on innovations in education that are transforming how and what our students are learning in and out of the classroom.

Our great line-up of exhibitors will be on hand to answer questions and discuss new ways of partnering. This free event includes a fantastic lunch, enlightening speakers and presentations, and great networking.

Still not convinced?  Check out this video about just a few of the projects!

WOW, I can’t believe this year marks the fifth Showcase.  This is our signature event which brings our partners and (hopefully) future partners in business, government, and non-profit sectors to campus to meet and mingle with the faculty and professional outreach staff working on exciting projects aimed at helping organizations work better and faster.  This year, our exhibitors range from the Family Studies Community Services and Internship Network to the Center for Applied IT!

The event is this Wednesday from 12:00 – 2:00 in the Minnegan Room. In addition to great speakers & fabulous networking, we also provide a delicious lunch and will be doing a drawing for a Kindle Fire–oh and the event is FREE!

One of the highlights each year for me is the President’s remarks, and this year I know a lot of people are looking forward to meeting our new President for the first time.  She is really committed to furthering the university’s public mission in economic development and community engagement.

Mark your calendars for April 13th for Towson University’s fourth annual Solutions Showcase event!  The event will take place from 12:00-2:00 in the Minnegan Room and will include plenty of time for networking with TU’s faculty and staff exhibitors and two dynamic keynote speakers (stay tuned for that announcement).  What makes this event so exciting every year is the diversity of attendees–education leaders, business executives, government leaders, non-profit directors, and of course TU’s leading faculty and professional researchers!

Registration is OPEN and did I mention this free event includes a great lunch–it doesn’t really get any better than that!
